I learned how to solve our Social Security Problem...

....it's called euthanasia! HAHA just kidding, however I did just finish an awesome book (thanks Erin) called Boomsday, where a girl lobbies the Senate to pass a bill letting baby boomers euthanise themselves and get massive tax benefits. It was unbelievably funny.

It's been a pretty slow summer. I divide my time between yoga, the gym, reading, and playing with my puppies. All and all, life is good. We leave for San Francisco in a little less than 2 weeks, and I am super excited. I can't wait to tour wine country. We had a minor hiccup this week, in who would watch the pups while we were gone. My babies are spoiled, inside dogs. The problem with my family keeping them, is I fear they would just leave them outside, and my pups live inside. However, my brother (yes I have a brother) came to the rescue, and is going to come house sit for us and watch the pups. My favorite response when telling this story was from Bridget, "How did I not know you had a brother?" I don't know. I will say my brother is a pretty cool kid. He has had to deal with a lot in his 21 years, and he has really come through it all like a champ. That kid rocks!

That's all for now..until next time remember, I was just kidding about the euthanasia thing....or was I?

I should really be my own reality show

It's a good thing I am not my own reality show, because people would seriously make fun of me. It would be like when Jessica Simpson did that reality TV show and everyone talked about how dumb she was. Episode One: How many Shandas does it take to open a door?

So last night I come home from yoga, and take a shower, when I get out of the shower, I hear sirens. I was like what is going on, I just took Harley for a walk and everything was fine. I put on my PJs and come downstairs, and behold, the sky has turned a yellowish color, so I start planning what to do. I decide to get the puppies and take them into the downstairs guest bathroom. Zoe was easy, she can't out run me yet, Harley, well that was another story. I finally get some treat and get Harley into the bathroom. I close the door, and go upstairs and get a brush (to brush out my wet hair) my cell phone, a candle (in case the lights go out) and the radio. I get everything all set up, and I think, you know the pups may want some water, so I go get the water and when I open the door to come back in, ZOOM Harley flies out. I close the door and run after Harley. Now, the rain is pouring, the sirens are still going off, and I can hear the strong winds, so I am a little frantic. I grab Harley and a toy and go to get back in the bathroom with Zoe, and the door is locked. Yes, I locked my puppy, my phone, and everything else in the bathroom. I go get an ice pick to pop open the lock, and it doesn't work. At this point, the weather is really bad, and Zoe is whining. Determined to get the door open, I go grab a screwdriver to take the door off the bathroom..haha ya right, like I could really do that. So, I am freaking out, I can't get to Zoe or my phone, so I try to call Ryan, but I can't remember his number (since it is saved in my cell phone that is locked in the bathroom). I finally decide I am going to break down the door and get my puppy out, at the exact moment I decide to do this, I remembered Ryan's cell phone number. I call it, it goes to voicemail, I give the door one last yank, and it opens. I leave Ryan a voicemail saying, I need you to come home right now, oh, nevermind I just got it! I finally get in the bathroom with both of my pups, and we all survived the storm. Once the sirens stopped and radio weather man told me all was clear, we left the restroom and I had 3 classes of wine. No, I don't know how I get myself into these messes! BIG SIGH

So it looks like we are going to be home owners

I know I have been slacking at this blogging stuff, (thanks for reminding me Shimmy) but things have been crazy. About two weeks ago, we went looking at houses and we decided to make an offer on one that we had seen a couple of weeks before and really liked! We put in an offer at 5pm(ish) Sunday, and by 10pm Sunday night the seller had accepted. We have been doing all sorts of stuff (we I say we, I mean mostly Ryan) to get ready to buy our home. We had to do the inspection, and then get with the seller about any repairs etc etc etc. So far, everything seems to be falling in place. If things keep going the way they we should be in our house in about two weeks. Yes, it is in Frisco. I am fully aware that my neighbor will probably have a three year old daughter who wears more makeup than I do, but I guess I can handle it for the house we love. Bring on the pagent moms!

Speaking of Mom's, my sister is Mommy to a new little girl. Alyssa Nicole was born Monday, March 2 at 7:03pm. She weighed 8lbs 7oz. Mom and baby are both doing well! Big sister is also doing well, she says,"My baby Alyssa is toooooo cute." Also, on a similar note, congrats to my friend Emily, she is going to be a new mommy to a baby boy! Hooray for boys! Please bring him down to visit, I am on little girl overload...I can't remember the last time someone in my family had a little boy. My cousin is expecting triplets in May, and one of them is suppose to be a boy, but the way it looks in my family, I wouldn't be suprised if they all turned out to be girls! That's all for now, mind any spelling or grammar errors I typed this quickly the last 1o minutes of lunch!

Search for a House

We continued our house search Saturday. This search was much better than last week's. Last week, we looked in Carrollton, and none of the houses we looked at were as nice as our little townhome we live in now. This time, we went to The Colony. The first house we went to was in what is called, "The Legends," it is in The Colony right outside of Frisco. Close to Ikea, which is good because it means my sister might actually come visit me. We loved it. It was the first house I could actually see us living in. It had a closet fit for a queen, need I say more? The next couple we looked at were better than the ones we saw in Carrollton, but still not what we were looking for. Then, we went to Frisco. Now, I was really against living in Frisco. Ryan has a lot of friends from work that live in Frisco so he was leaning more towards Frisco. We look at the houses in Frisco, and they are actually pretty nice. I did not like any of them as much as I liked the first house we saw in, "The Legends," but I feel like ok, if I have to move to Frisco I can. Then, last night I saw this show on TLC called, "Toddlers and Tiaras." Where were half of these little pint size beauty queens from? Yes, you guessed it FRISCO,TX! These moms were CRAZY, I am sorry, but I do not want my neighbor being psycho beauty pagent mom. She even had a "Pagent Mom" sticker in her car. Um Frisco, I think I am going to have to pass. Now, if only I can convince Ryan....

Hey, Hey Domestic Goddess

I made dinner last night. No, seriously, I did. I know how to make simple things. Our weekly dinners usually consist of spaghetti, tacos (or burritos whichever Ryan is in the mood for) chicken on the Foreman (which Ryan makes, and I usually skip) or frozen dinners. As you see we do not mix it up too much. Lately, I have been trying to cook more. Basically, I find out what Ryan wants for dinner, I google it and voila I have a recipe. I made Chicken Pot Pie one night, which actually turned out pretty good, but it took awhile to make. I made yams, mac and cheese (from scratch not from a box), pumpkin pie and a few other things for Christmas dinner. Well, yesterday I discovered the crockpot! It is the best invention ever. I cut up some potatoes, carrots, and poured in some cream of mushroom soup set a roast in it, put some chopped onions on top, turned it on low, and the came home 9 hours later and dinner was ready. The only bad thing is I do not like roast, but Ryan seemed to like it, so score 20 points for domestic goddess!

Blog? Why not!

I figure everyone is else doing it. I know I enjoy reading all the blogs the girls on the nest set up about what they are doing during their first year of marriage, so I figure I can start my own.

This has actually been a really busy year, to only be 14 days into it. So far this year I have gone to yoga at least four days a week for the past three weeks. So next time you see me I better look slim and trim. I actually like yoga. It is the first exercise I have found that I do not dread going to to everyday.

Now, on the family front, we have started looking for a house. We are hoping to be home owners by the beginning of the summer. Harley needs a yard of his own. If you have met my dog, you know he is spoiled and he needs an area of his own. Aside from looking at houses, I am also working on planning Marci's baby shower. The baby's room is light purple, so I am going to make that the theme for the shower. I have some pretty good ideas, but now I have to start buying everything for the shower...good thing I get paid tomorrow. The only bad thing about being a teacher is I only get paid once a month, and I haven't been paid since before Christmas, so as I am sure you can imagine times are poor this week. Oh, and for those of you who are thinking..."why was the blog posted when she was suppose to be teaching?" My students have semester exams this week, and right now they are doing their 3rd period exam, and I do not have a 3rd period class so I have two hours to grade, and I finished all that in 20 minutes, so it leaves me all this time to blog! Alas, I think I am out of stuff to write about.
